ONCE A SPORTSPERSON, ALWAYS A SPORTSPERSON
Becoming a sportsperson is not an easy game for all
One has to show lots of passion, grit, dedication, discipline, will-power, and determination. Beyond these traits, one always has to be a fighter at every stage of life. As the life of a sportsperson never moves on a straight line. But it comprises several ups and downs in both the professional and personal life.
Today, while celebrating International Woman’s Day, Taped-It Media brings for you an inspirational journey of a woman “NEHA SHARMA”. She has outplayed in various sports at the Indian state-level.
Neha belongs to a middle-class family from Haryana, Gurugram. From her school days, she was clear that she wants to be an Indian hockey player. The fight to become a sportsperson began from the very beginning of her school days.
The typical Indian middle-class family does not feel comfortable as:
- They do not like their girl child to step out of the home and do extra-curricular activities and
- If a girl wears shorts and t-shirts or even less, then it is not acceptable in society at all.
So, her decision to be a sportsperson was the stepping stone towards crafting her incredible journey. She has played at the inter-school, college, and then finally at the national levels. Neha played hockey majorly from 2008 till 2012. During that period, as there were extreme politics and no motivation for the players in this sport. And hence, finally Neha decided to switch to Boxing as a sports career in 2013.
It is evident that :
“Once a sportsperson, always a sportsperson”
When we have asked Neha: Wasn’t that a tough decision for you make to switch to a completely different sport altogether?
She simply responded – “Player ki will power bahut zaada hoti hai” which means ‘A player has very strong will power. And without saying much she explained, as to why without much hassle she not only switched to another sport (Boxing) so easily. But she also, played again at the National Level in this sport.
Every sportsperson does have some age restrictions or limitations and as they mature. Yes, they have to move on to the next levels. Hence, in 2017 Neha has cleared the NET Exams and started teaching jobs in sports. She also continued research works in the field of fitness topic – Psycho Physiological effects of the circuit training program on pre-obese adolescence.
In 2019, she got married to Hirdesh Gautam who is a wrestler. Hirdesh’s story is also an exciting one to know and we promise to share that with you in the times to come soon.

But as for now, Hirdesh and Neha met in 2015, when Hirdesh has invited Neha for training purposes as part of his job. But they met again in 2017, where they both had a common objective to teach aspiring students, various doctors, clinics, gyms, and other related individuals or organizations on EMS (Electro Mayo Stimulation) Technology.
Though their life was going well, Hirdesh has lost his job due to the Covid-19 situation and has now started his new venture recently. In the meanwhile, they became parents of a one-month-old, very sweet little baby girl. Like every parent, they started dreaming of a bright future for their child.
Hirdesh had just started his business and there were fewer chances of stable income on an immediate basis. Presently, Neha was also out of job and she decided to continue back with her job and study hard for the government job so as she can be strong support for her family and Hirdesh as well.
This is how a strong woman is. No matter whatever the situations are in front of us, never be afraid of it, have strong willpower, and fight with it till the end. This is what we have learned from Neha and she is a truly encouraging and inspirational woman for us.
